Leveson letting real criminals off to attack free speech

All the hopes that for once an inquiry would do what is needed seems to have come to naught. Not only is Leveson ignorant of the concept of free speech and expression he seems to have a bloated idea that no one can criticise him or his action.

 

This is bad.

 

Perhaps worse if the idiotic decision he's made to let off criminals and deny justice to their thousands of victims. Before this benighted inquiry was a botched investigation known as Operation Motorman. This uncovered thousands of serious crimes. However Leveson has loftily ruled that such real crimes aren't important and has let the criminals off.

 

This sucks.

 

Not only are we talking about real criminal activity here, we're talking about serial criminals. One non-Murdoch journalist was found to have committed 185 seperate crimes. And Leveson couldn't give a fuck. All these criminals are still journalists. Many are now senior editors and important people.

 

All will go unpunished.

 

One has the sneaking suspicion that these crimes are ignored becuase they are mostly not confined to News International and as such act against the official narrative that only Murdoch is at fault.

 

It's bollocks.

 

This inquiry should deal with press illegality. The criminals should be punished. It doesn't matter who they are, who the write for, which party they support.

 

If they committed crimes they should be punished.

 

Leveson seems to be descending into the old established stereotype of whitewash and fudge.

 

Utterly pathetic.
