I listen to a lot of US radio, mostly when I'm washing up (such is the glamour of my life). These program's have adverts. Mostly it's the same old stuff you hear everywhere, insurance, new cars, but there are oddities. There are a lot of adverts selling gold and silver, and emergency food with a 25 year expiry date.
However what I find really odd are the federal government adverts about work place security. This is the normal stuff about not leaving bags lying around, keep and eye on strangers lurking, that sort of thing. And then it tells the listener to keep an eye on their fellow workers in case they are psychopaths who'll go "postal" and kill you in a insane spree attack.
I've never heard such official warnings anywhere else. it either shows a scary paranoia or a terrifying level of psychopathic behaviour in the US.
It's very odd.
