Richard Dawkins sensitivity about slavery

Richard Dawkins is an atheist. This is fine if it wasn't for the fact that he's also a fanatic who has appointed himself as the hammer of Christianity. The cult like leadership he enjoys turns me off. It's not about the existence or not of God it's just I find any fanatic distasteful. I'm fine with anyone believing anything they want. Dawkins wants everyone to follow him and the true belief. He and his followers seem to want a crusade agianst believers.

This isn't nice in my book.

Now as part of his holy mission Dawkins keeps dragging up the past. Any crime committed in the name of religion is used to attack the present believer.

However it seems he can dole it out but not take it. Dawkins always uses the cartoon image of believers rather than the reality. This is why he puts forward the ridiculous notion that Christians all believe the world is six thousand years old when 99.9999% don't. It's also why he won't debate with believers who have a chance of winning the argument.

It also means he cries like a slapped bitch (as in dog not as in sexist insult) when the Telegraph delves into his past. It emerged that his families great wealth and current estate was based on slavery.

Dawkins is not happy that a newspaper dared write anything but praise for him. He, and his accolytes, cry it is a Christian attack on their prophet. They all ignore Dawkins on use of history to launch personal attacks on people.

It must be said that slavery is obscene and wrong at every level.

More than that that Dawkins and his family bear no guilt nor shame for the slave owning actions of their ancestors. It's not their fault. Thier families past neither strengthens nor weakens thier views.

However the history of slavery shouldn't be hidden or ignored. The history, abuse, and economics of slavery is a valid topic for study or the press. The fame or power of the decendents shouldn't stifle this.

If one wanted to be naughty you'd think that Dawkins is so set against the Church as it was the Christian Church which fought against the wickedness of slavery and so scuppered the Dawkins family's wealth building. Well he does moan that there is only little money left, whilst igonoring the family estate.

This would not be true, but it's a funny idea.
