The thing I've learned which will serve me well when I inevitably become dictator of some benighted patch is this:
As soon as you win your coup turbo start your weapons of mass destruction programme. Developing your own capabilities would be best though buying naughty weapons on the black market is also acceptable.
Then you can relax in your blood soaked palace safe from attack or criticism of your tacky tastes in decor.
If our recent history, and indeed Iraq, has taught us anything it is that if you want to remain in dictator splendour and satisfy your every need in unmitigated luxury the weapons of mass destruction are vital.
Iraq was overthrown. Libya had our backing to kick out their dictator. Iran, Syria, North Korea remain undemocratic without any real western criticism.
Can you guess which countries have weapons of mass destruction and which don't?
It's sad that every would be dictator will have learned the same thing. The terrible thing is that the world, and I'm not just talking about the western bit, are so weak and cowardly that we don't have the resources, moral fibre, or international structures to stop millions of people from being denied their supposed inalienable rights.
Vile nuclear and bioweapon dictators are allowed the thrive because we let them.
This cowardice and such powerful weapons is a recipe for disaster.
